Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 1, 2026
1. Introduction
PixDay ("Thru Consulting LLC", "PixDay," "we," "us," or "our") is a New Jersey company that helps schools, photographers, and families share and order school photos. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to pixday.co, our online photo galleries, and our ordering services (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
From schools. To set up picture day, schools may give us student names, grade, teacher or class, student ID numbers, and parent email addresses.
Photos. We receive and store the photos taken on picture day, along with any retake or make-up photos.
From parents and guardians. When you view a gallery or place an order, we collect your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, and order details. Payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store payment information.
Automatically. When you visit our website, we collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and cookies used to keep the site working and understand how it is used.
When you contact us. If you email, call, or chat with us, we keep a record of that communication so we can help you.
3. How We Use Information
We use information only to run and improve the Services, including to:
- Create private online galleries and send parents and guardians access links
- Match photos to the right student, school, and family
- Process, produce, and ship orders, and deliver digital downloads
- Provide yearbook photos, ID card images, and other school-requested items to the school
- Send order confirmations, gallery notifications, and customer support messages
- Keep the Services secure and prevent fraud
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use student information or photos for advertising, and we do not use them to build marketing profiles.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only as described below:
- With your school. We share photos and related student information with the school for yearbooks, student ID cards, and school records.
- With service providers. We use trusted vendors for hosting, payment processing, printing, shipping, and email. They may use information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PixDay, our users, or others.
- If our business changes. If PixDay is merged or sold, information may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under terms at least as protective as this policy.
5. Student and Children's Privacy
The Services are meant for adults (parents, guardians, and school staff). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Student information and photos come to us from schools and photographers, who are responsible for any notices or consents required under applicable law.
When we receive student information from a school, we act on the school's behalf and use it only to provide picture day services. We handle it consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), where they apply.
Galleries are private. Only people with the access link or code provided for a student can view that student's photos. If you believe a child has given us personal information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Data Security and Retention
Security. PixDay is SOC 2 compliant. We protect information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limited to staff who need it, and regular security monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected schools and users of a data breach as required by law.
Retention. We keep photos and related information for as long as needed to provide the Services, typically 6 months after picture day, so families can place later orders. We keep order and payment records as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Schools may ask us to delete their student data sooner. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete it.
7. Your Choices
- Access, correct, or delete. Parents and guardians may ask to see, correct, or delete their information or their child's photos by contacting us. Some requests may need to go through your school.
- Emails. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in each message. We will still send order and service messages.
- Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or on our website.
